In a way, one could say that her works oppose the Western dualistic distinction between humans and nature, artificiality and naturalness. The “Anthropocene” era, which describes the significant influence of humans on the Earth, is defined by the belief that we can harness nature for our own purposes. The consequences have long been felt, but the necessary rethinking is only slowly taking place. These challenges call for a new concept of nature in which humans see themselves as an intrinsic part of the world. In Stangl’s imagery, this concept already seems to have been realized. … “
